Agenda: During the Annual Meeting, a brief state-of-the-club address and ratification of board member elections will take place prior to the investiture of Craig Gilbert as a Knight of the Golden Quill and Peter Feigin as a Knight of Bohemia.
The Order of the Knights of the Golden Quill, the highest journalism honor bestowed by the Milwaukee Press Club, recognizes outstanding professional accomplishment.
This year’s honoree, Craig Gilbert, is the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Washington Bureau Chief and longtime political writer.
Gilbert has covered every presidential campaign since 1988 and chronicled Wisconsin’s role as a swing state at the center of the nation’s political divide. He has written widely about polarization and voting trends, and won distinction for his data-driven analysis.
Gilbert has served as a writer-in-residence at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a two-time Lubar Fellow at Marquette Law School, and a Knight-Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan, where he studied public opinion, survey research, voting behavior and statistics.
The Circle of the Knights of Bohemia is comprised of community leaders who are not journalists and recognizes exemplary community leadership. This year, we honor Peter Feigin for his contributions to our community.
Feigin is president of the Milwaukee Bucks and a tireless advocate for the Milwaukee area since coming to the city in 2014 to run the team when it was purchased by New York City hedge fund executive Wes Edens, Marc Lasry and Jamie Dinan.
He led the effort to secure approval from the state of Wisconsin, city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County for $250 million in public funding for a new sports and entertainment arena in downtown Milwaukee to replace the aging Bradley Center.
The arena, Fiserv Forum, has been a huge hit since opening in August 2018, transforming the northern part of downtown Milwaukee with the establishment of an entertainment district, anchored by four restaurants recruited by the Bucks.
At the same time, Feigin transformed the business operations of the team and NBA leader in basketball operations, sales and technology. On the court, the Bucks and their superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2019 and are seen as one of the top contenders for years to come.
Feigin is one of the most active business executives in southeastern Wisconsin, speaking at events and working to improve Milwaukee’s image, while also drawing companies to move to Milwaukee. His vision is to make the 30-acre development anchored by Fiserv Forum a new central point of downtown Milwaukee, with new hotels, office space and residential units in a work, live and play environment.
There is no cost to attend. Advanced registration is suggested and can be done by booking below.
