Last August, two days of conflict in Milwaukee’s Sherman Park neighborhood captured the attention of the country. Violence erupted after a young black man was shot and killed by a young black police officer. Police in riot gear faced off against protestors who threw rocks, bottles and bricks, fired shots and set businesses on fire. While the fatal shooting was the breaking point, Sherman Park residents say anger and discontent had been building for years in a neighborhood marked by high unemployment and related problems. One year later, what has changed?
