The Milwaukee Press Club and the Rotary Club of Milwaukee will present a joint program on Tuesday, July 16, featuring Allan H. “Bud” Selig, Commissioner Emeritus of Baseball.
The program will feature a conversation between Selig and Tom Haudricourt, beat reporter for the Milwaukee Brewers and Major League Baseball for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. The two will discuss Selig’s book, For the Good of the Game, set to be published July 9 by Harpercollins Publishers. The book, co-written with sports journalist Phil Rogers, features a foreward by historian and biographer Doris Kearns Goodwin.
Selig, a Milwaukee native, was the owner and team president of the Milwaukee Brewers until being named acting commissioner of baseball in 1992. Selig was named the official commissioner in 1998 and served in that role until stepping down in 2015. He was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2017.
Selig will be available for a limited time to sign copies of his book, which will be available for sale at this event.
Lunch and networking at 11:45, program 12 noon to 1:15 p.m. in Memorial Hall at the War Memorial Center, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive downtown. Parking is available to the north of the building – please tell the attendant you are there for Rotary. Seating will be limited for this event and advanced registration is required.
The cost to attend is $20 for MPC members and $25 for non-members. Lunch is included. Registration deadline is Friday, July 12. Advanced registration and payment are required and may be done by booking below. Checks may be mailed to the MPC at PO Box 176, North Prairie, WI 53153-0176. Cancellations will be accepted up to 48 hours in advance for a full refund.
