Gov. Tony Evers has cancelled his appearance and we will reschedule soon.

Gov. Tony Evers will be the featured speaker at a Newsmaker Luncheon, hosted jointly by the Milwaukee Press Club and WisPolitics.com, on Thursday, March 12.

Evers, in the second year of his four-year term as Wisconsin’s governor, will reflect on his first year in office and discuss current issues facing the state.  Prior to his election as governor, Evers was the state’s Superintendent of Public Instruction

Evers received bachelor (1974), master (1976) and doctoral (1986) degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He began his professional career as a teacher and media coordinator in the Tomah school district. He later served as principal of Tomah Elementary School and Tomah High School. Evers also was superintendent of the Oakfield school district, superintendent of the Verona school district and administrator of the Cooperative Education Service Agency (CESA) in Oshkosh.

Evers will take questions from a panel of journalists and from the audience at the luncheon, set for 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St.

Seating is limited and we anticipate high attendance, so register early. Advanced registration and payment are required. Registration deadline is Friday, March 6.

Press club Newsmaker Luncheons are held to shed light on issues of the day. The cost for the lunch and program is $20 for MPC members, $25 for non-members and $15 for students.
