What year in the 21st Century could be described as an overwhelming dumpster fire?
Yep.
You got it.
The Milwaukee Press Club wants to celebrate the end of 2020 by hosting its first online trivia event. All are welcome to convene a team and sign up for the Milwaukee Media Smackdown from 7 to 9 p.m. January 21. (Event is open to the public.)
The event will be held via Zoom, and proceeds will go toward the Milwaukee Press Club and the MPC Endowment.
The MPC Endowment was established in 1973 to promote the advancement of journalism excellence. The endowment carries out its mission by providing scholarships to students, funding journalism-related education programs and establishing its own funds, including the Don Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund, the Eric Miller PantherVision Scholarship Fund, and the Tim Cuprisin Memorial Fund. A new scholarship was launched in December in honor of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reporter Meg Jones who recently passed away.
To participate in the Milwaukee Media Smackdown, register by booking below with a team of up to eight people. Teams should come up with a team name to use at registration. If you do not have a team, MPC can place you in a team.
An early-bird price of $10 per player is available until 11:59 p.m. January 15 for MCP members and $15 for non-members.
Our trivia event will be hosted by JR Radcliffe, Journal Sentinel sportswriter and trivia guru.
Questions will be asked through a Zoom conference, and teams will be able to discuss and answer within breakout rooms. Knowing that the COVID-19 quarantine doesn’t provide many people the opportunity to get together, the press club will give teams ample time to discuss questions and socialize within the breakout rooms.
Register now, and start studying!
