MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Press Club and the Rotary Club of Milwaukee will present a joint program on Tuesday, January 10, featuring Ruth Greenwood, deputy director of redistricting at the Campaign Legal Center.
Dave Haynes, editorial page editor of Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, will interview Greenwood. In November a three-judge panel in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Wisconsin struck down Wisconsin’s state assembly district map. With this decision, the Campaign Legal Center successfully contended that a state legislative redistricting plan is an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander for the first time in 30 years, using an “efficiency gap standard.” What is the efficiency gap standard? Will the decision hold up on appeal to the US Supreme Court? Greenwood and Haynes will help us understand.
Lunch and networking at 11:45, program 12 noon to 1:15 p.m. in Memorial Hall at the War Memorial Center, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive downtown.
