MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Press Club will present a Newsmaker Luncheon on Thursday, July 14, 2016, featuring candidates in the upcoming Democratic primary for Wisconsin’s 4th Senate District: incumbent Sen. Lena Taylor (D- Milwaukee) and State Rep. Mandela Barnes (D- Milwaukee).
Barnes, who first was elected to office in 2012, is challenging Taylor in the August 9 primary election. Taylor was elected to the State Assembly in a special election in 2003 and won a seat in the Senate a year later.
Taylor and Barnes will be interviewed individually by a panel of journalists and each also will take questions from the audience. The program will allot a total of 30 minutes of interviews and Q&A for each candidate. Lunch will begin at 11:45 a.m., with the program to begin at 12:15 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub in downtown Milwaukee at 137 E. Wells St.
The Milwaukee Press Club’s Newsmaker Luncheon Series is sponsored by Journal Media Group and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
The Milwaukee Press Club presents the Newsmaker Luncheons to shed light on issues of the day. The public is invited to attend the luncheons. The cost to attend is $18 for MPC members, $23 for non-members, $13 for students. Lunch is included. Seating will be limited. Advanced registration and payment are required and may be done online at www.milwaukeepressclub.org. Checks may be mailed to the MPC at PO Box 176, North Prairie, WI 53153-0176. Cancellations will be accepted up to 48 hours in advance for a full refund.
