MILWAUKEE – The Milwaukee Press Club and the Rotary Club of Milwaukee will present a Newsmaker Luncheon on Tuesday, February 2nd, featuring David Stearns, the new general manager of the Milwaukee Brewers.
Stearns was hired last fall at age 30, and became the youngest general manager in the major leagues today. At the time he was hired, Stearns was less than half the age of outgoing general manager Doug Melvin and one year younger than Brewers right fielder Ryan Braun. Stearns is a graduate of Harvard University, and worked as an intern for the New York Mets, and later for the Cleveland Indians, Houston Astros, and the Major League Baseball central office.
Stearns youth and experience with data analytics is seen as crucial for the future of the Brewers as they embark on a major rebuilding effort.
Lunch and networking at 11:45, program 12 noon to 1:15 p.m. in Memorial Hall at the War Memorial Center, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive downtown.
