MILWAUKEE – Attorneys Ralph Weber and Craig Johnson will be the featured speakers at a luncheon set for Tuesday, January 18 hosted jointly by the Milwaukee Press Club and the Rotary Club of Milwaukee.
In the wake of the Waukesha Parade attack in November, Wisconsin bail practices came under a national spotlight. Weber and Johnson will discuss the law and practice of bail and why they believe bail reform requires data-driven decisions.
Weber, a Milwaukee area civil trial lawyer, advisor, and corporate/nonprofit board member who writes about human decision-making, wrote this commentary shortly after the parade attack, in which six people died and dozens more were injured. Johnson, a criminal defense lawyer and president of the Wisconsin Justice Initiative, which advocates for change in the state’s justice system, wrote this viewpoint regarding tools that can be used in setting bail.
Lunch and networking will begin at 11:45 a.m.; program to run from noon to 1:15 p.m. in Memorial Hall at the War Memorial Center, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive in Milwaukee.
