Chris McIntosh, director of athletics for the University of Wisconsin, will be the featured speaker at a Newsmaker Luncheon set for Wednesday, January 26 hosted by the Milwaukee Press Club and WisPolitics.com.
McIntosh began his tenure as Director of Athletics at Wisconsin on July 1, 2021, succeeding Barry Alvarez upon his retirement.
McIntosh was a consensus All-America offensive tackle who captained Wisconsin’s back-to-back Big Ten and Rose Bowl champions in 1998 and 1999. He was an Outland Trophy finalist for the Badgers in1999 and also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors. In 2000, he was a first-round draft choice of the Seattle Seahawks, and played in Seattle for three seasons.
He returned to UW in 2014 as associate athletic director for business development after a successful business career in which he founded, managed, and sold numerous ventures in the health and wellness field. He was named deputy athletic director in 2017.
McIntosh will take questions from a panel of journalists and from the audience at the luncheon, set for 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St.

The press club’s Newsmaker Luncheons are held to inform the public about the people and issues that affect individuals and communities in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. The cost to attend is $20 for MPC members, $25 for non-members and $15 for students. Lunch is included. Seating is limited. Advanced registration and payment are required and may be done by booking below. Checks may be mailed to the MPC at PO Box 176, North Prairie, WI 53153-0176. Cancellations will be accepted up to 48 hours in advance for a full refund.
The Press Club is requiring that everyone attending the event be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as defined by the CDC, or have received a negative COVID-19 test within 72 hours prior to the event. Proof of vaccination or a negative test result will be checked at the door, and under the city of Milwaukee’s mask ordinance, masks will be required indoors.
