Grace Stanke, a University of Wisconsin – Madison student and recent reigning Miss Wisconsin, will be the featured guest at a Newsmaker Luncheon set for noon on Tuesday, February 21 hosted by the Milwaukee Press Club, and the Rotary Club of Milwaukee. The luncheon event will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Milwaukee County War Memorial Center, 750 N Lincoln Memorial Drive, Suite 320.
Stanke, a senior at UW- Madison majoring in nuclear engineering, was crowned December 15 and is the third Miss Wisconsin to become Miss America.
She won the talent portion of the competition, performing a piece from Vivaldi, Summer/Four Seasons – Storm, on her electric violin. Stanke will spend her year as Miss America traveling the country to promote her advocacy platform of “Clean Energy – Cleaner Future.” By encouraging worldwide change for clean, zero-carbon emission energy sources, Stanke focuses on the benefits of nuclear power and seeks to dispel myths around nuclear energy. She also seeks to inspire the next generation of female scientists, engineers, and mathematicians.
Stanke will take questions from a panel of journalists and from the audience at the luncheon, to be moderated by Milwaukee Press Club President Maryann Lazarski, series/documentary producer for Milwaukee PBS.

The press club’s Newsmaker Luncheons are held to inform the public about the people and issues that affect individuals and communities in Milwaukee and Wisconsin. The cost to attend is $25 for MPC members, $30 for non-members and $20 for students. Lunch is included. Registration deadline is Friday, February 17. Seating is limited. Cancellations will be accepted up to 48 hours in advance for a full refund.
