We want to express outrage and sadness about the death of journalist and Marquette University graduate James Foley at the hands of Islamic extremists. We condemn their horrific murder of Foley and others. Foley repeatedly demonstrated extreme courage to report the news and to fight for freedom of the press. His bravery is a reminder of the numerous sacrifices journalists have made reporting from Iraq and other war zones.
Our thoughts are with Foley, his family, his colleagues, his friends and the many other journalists who risk their lives in pursuit of the truth.
