As the world, our nation and the community come to grips with the extent of the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, it is also our goal to make responsible choices when it comes to our event programming. While we embrace our role as a public conduit to decision-makers and a place to come for discussions on the issues that affect us all, we must be sure to act with everyone’s best interest at the forefront.
To that end, the Milwaukee Press Club is canceling two upcoming live-streamed panels with the candidates for Milwaukee mayor set for Wednesday, March 18 and March 25th. We are in discussions about other upcoming Club events, making our decisions moving forward using the best medical advice while adhering to local, state and federal guidelines.
There is no rule book, no template available as how to deal with this unique health threat. While our organization thrives on its mission to serve and inform the community, we also have to be smart, to do what is best moving forward. We join with everyone in asking that you take care of yourselves and your neighbors in the challenging days ahead. If we heed the advice of those monitoring the situation, we will come through this threat stronger and even more committed to delivering on what the Milwaukee Press Club has continuously promised the community since 1885.
